Antwain Price…Did You Know My Friend?

Antwain Price. Did you Know Him?

Tweeter. That’s what I called him.  I’m not sure where this nickname originated from or even when we started to call him this. I’m not sure exactly why or when his heart stopped...but I do know what I called him and how he made me feel.

When I heard he passed by yesterday...I wasn’t quite sure what to do. I just know I couldn’t speak. I suddenly remembered his smile and felt  his energy. His energy and smile shifted a room. His jokes could pull at your heartstrings and make anyone laugh.

He was supportive. I can’t remember one minute he ever made me feel less than and always showed up. Maybe that’s why he was such a good drummer. In high school he was one of the drummers in the band. Before the games my best friend Mercedes and I would always tell Tweeter the beats we needed. We gave him the signal he knew the exact beat to play. Because he was a FANTASTIC drummer and we were one of the BADDEST cheerleading teams around we did not disappoint.  He was always there...right on beat.

Everytime I came home he was always ready to link up. It seemed as though time passed yet we lost nothing. I’m not sure how it will feel to return to Steelton now. I will no longer see his face. We will no longer be able to give him a hug.

Now when I return home I’ll pray harder. I’ll pray to be more like Tweeter. I’ll pray to make someone laugh and show up. I’ll love harder and beat the drum of my life like he did.

There will never be another like my homeboy...my brother.  He was special.

We love you and will forever remember you…

Tweeter.

Friends Forever.
